Mijo 2021

Try Mijo

Mijo

In Spanish, the endearing use of "Mijo" is a term especially reserved for addressing dear family members and extremely close-knit friends with whom you feel a strong, deep-rooted bond.

Our "Mijo" selection is a washed coffee from Huatusco, Veracruz. Carefully crafted to a medium-dark roast, "Mijo" greets you with aromas of sweet, spiced hickory and opens up into rich tasting notes of dark cacao and caramel with a slight hint of spices.

About This Coffee

The state of Veracruz is not as well-known as some of Mexico's other coffee growing states - such as Chiapas - yet that's about to change. The coffee emerging from Veracruz is becoming known for producing beans that carry the signature caramel and chocolate notes typical of Latin American coffees while also integrating a wider array of complexity and flavors that range from stone fruits, tropical fruits and even floral notes similar to that of African coffees.

Our "Mijo" selection keeps it close to home providing those familiar flavors yet also lightly flirting with complexity. "Mijo" offers a hint of spice and a just-so-ever-present tickle of acidity on your tongue.

This bean is perfect for those who are just starting to explore the world of specialty coffee and want to try a quality bean that will gently introduce some surprising, new flavors without straying too far from that good 'ol, trusty, familiar taste of coffee.
